Whitening

Whitening is a safe and effective way to lighten and improve the appearance of your teeth.  It can be done at home or in office.  Both are very effective methods but depends upon personal preference and schedule.

Prior to whitening an oral health assessment is necessary.  It is essential to complete unfinished restorative procedures, as they may cause sensitivity or create additional problems.  Patients with outstanding restorative, periodontal disease, pregnancy or other medical issues may not be candidates for whitening.  Only natural tooth structure will lighten.  Therefore anyone with resin (white) fillings or porcelain crowns/bridges/restorations present may need to have them replaced. There are no guarantees as to the degree of whitening and can vary from person to person.

Take Home Whitening

Custom trays are made and a whitening kit is provided.  These trays will be worn 15 minutes - 1 hour a day depending on the concentration of whitening solution used for a period of 1-2 weeks.

Two appointments will be necessary.

Appointment 1 - approximately 1/2 hour

At this appointment impressions will be taken for custom made whitening trays.

Appointment 2 - approximately 1/2 hour

The trays will be tried in, a shade will be taken and instructions for use will be given.

In-Office Whitening

Two appointments will be necessary.

Appointment 1 - approximately 1/2 hour.

At this appointment impressions will be taken for custom made whitening trays.

Appointment 2 - approximately 1 1/2 hours.
